The Republicans Are As Dumb As A Box Of Rocks

The Republicans think they're pretty clever, blocking the people's business in Congress. I hope this cleverness earns them a place at the bottom of the heap in 2010. If not, who knows what other terrible ideas they'll have for the nation.

They certainly don't mean well, don't mean anything good for the nation's well being. It's all selfishness for them. The public good doesn't factor into their decisions. We saw it all through the Bush years -- it was corruption morning, noon, and night. And with the Obama years, the Republicans haven't changed, except now, of course, it's patriotic to dis the President. Big surprise there!

The health care reform issue, though, seems like a terrible issue for them to be blocking. This is something we all know we need. The insurance system in this country is criminal. And the Republicans are clearly on the side of the criminals. It polls over 60% favorable with the American people, and where do the Republicans find themselves? On the other side.

Let them rot. I am so sick of the Republican party I could spit.

A Whole Year Since The Election

2008 was a killer for me, all the waiting, all the political suffering. It didn't seem like we'd ever get to the election. Then we finally, finally did. And now it's been an entire year since!

How is President Obama doing? I think he's doing pretty much OK. I would prefer a more out and out liberal agenda, and more of an out and out killer instinct to get it. I don't like the idea of pussyfootin' around with political enemies when you're President of the United States.

I think this health-care thing could've been better. And it could've been done sooner. Maybe not, because I'm not really there to know. I tend to think the president has more power than he uses. I imagine he could've twisted some arms off and broken some knee caps, politically speaking.

As far as the Democrats in Congress, I don't like it that they're going a hundred different ways, always in rebellion over one thing or another. I think a surer way to bury the Republicans is to govern as Democrats with good Democratic principles. And among those principles I don't mean shooting yourself in the foot while no sense of direction.

Now it's election day again, and the Republicans have a mixed bag. They're going to spin it as a big night for them, that Obama's bad and the Republicans are good. It doesn't really mean that, but just wait and see.

What happens in 2010, I'm hoping we get our act together and crush them. But if 2009 is any guide, I don't know that it will happen.

Texas Governor Rick Perry

How does a governor who takes a role in executing an innocent man, then covers it up, have any chance of being reelected? The people of Texas have some sense, don't they?

How does a governor who actually advocated that his state secede from the United States have any chance of being reelected? How can you be considered a patriotic American citizen if you don't want your state to be part of the United States?

Gov. Rick Perry is totally corrupt. He should pay the price for it. Electorally and legally.

Tom Delay Dancing

I don't watch "Dancing With The Stars" and I'm not going to start now, with Tom Delay on it.

I see there's links to it all over the blogs today, but I'm not watching any of them. The last thing I want to see is Tom Delay.

It's bad enough just seeing the still photos, of this creep pointing at the audience, looking like the rat that he is.

Basically it comes down to this, if I want to see a turd spinning, I'll flush the toilet.

He Got His Finger Bit Off?

Oh no, remind me not to go to any public health care events. People are packing guns, fighting, and now some guy got his finger bit off.

Look up the names if you're interested in the details. But the way I remember it, the guy who did the biting was a pro-health care reform supporter and the guy who was bit was anti. The news accounts said, ironically, that the guy who got bit has his medical coverage through Medicare. So the next time the Fickle Finger of Fate points at you, perhaps don't be caught biting the finger that's paying your bills.

One other detail I saw, the anti guy threw the first punch. But only the guy who did the biting will be charged. Maybe if he spits the finger out they'll let him go. Or when it passes they can fish it out of the water.

It's no laughing matter. At least it wouldn't be if it were my hand involved. But I stay home, especially when crazy mobs are in evidence.

He's the same clown who a few years ago said we shouldn't have fought in World War II. It just makes you wonder what makes some people tick.

You Might Be A Bad Pastor If...

The Secret Service interviewed that idiotic pastor who gave a sermon in his church (!) on "Why I Hate Barack Obama" and prayed that Mr. Obama would die and go to hell.

It also turns out that the guy who showed up at the president's event in Arizona the other day with a gun goes to this pastor's church. So I'd say, if you're looking for a church, it pays to check around!

Apologies to Jeff Foxworthy, but here goes:

You might be a bad pastor if the Secret Service has to interview you for seeking the death of the President of the United States.

This guy is a couple testaments short of a full Bible.

Republicans' Current and Future Idiocracy

This is too weird. We have terrible climate change forecasts for the breadbasket states, and we have senators in those areas who will not vote to do anything about it.

Let's say it gets extremely hot. And the plants all start dying. We can always give them Brawndo, with electrolytes, which plants crave. Like in the movie, we also have idiots leading us.

This article says Kansas will be most ravaged by climate change. But the two Republican senators there are unlikely to support legislation concerning it. Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts. You think you have a Brownback now, just wait till the average temperature is 110!

So obviously they're morons.

In Nebraska we have Democrat-in-name-only Ben Nelson. Nelson earlier signed a letter calling for climate legislation to be put off. (Have we ever mentioned that Ben Nelson is worthless?) And the other senator is Mike Johanns, who apparently is also behind on the issue.

These are the places that are going to be most affected, mind you.

Then Iowa stands to face the third worst catastrophe. Republican Charles Grassley represents Iowa, and his vote is always right down the line with Rush Limbaugh and the other radicals. These people don't care about the country, just how they can stick it to President Obama in the heat of the moment. And with their "leadership," the country will have plenty of heat.

It's kind of like in the first episode of Superman, where Krypton is erupting all over the place. Superman's dad is the only scientist to say, "Hey, Krypton is erupting all over the place. Maybe we ought to do something about it." To which the other scientists scoff, saying, "Jor-el, you're mad! Krypton erupting all over the place? Don't be silly. That's just the people upstairs with their loud parties."

When you're watching it you think, no one could be as crazy as these guys! But bring it down to real life and the Republicans: Yes, you can be that crazy!

A Rising Star That Crashed And Burned

Here's an entry from a parallel universe, one in which Gov. Mark Sanford, REPUBLICAN, is a rising star in his party, all set to tell us all the terrible things of the Obama Administration and lead us back to the fine Republican principles of the Bush years, er-- check that, back to some golden time of Republican ideals, perhaps 10 minutes during Reagan's time in office.

TPM has part of a book catalog for a book that Sanford had written and would've been published now. In those long ago days, before the Appalachian trail, before the lover in South America, before all the weird overcharges on his expense reports, before he gave a semi-psychotic news conference, he was writing "a conservative manifesto."

Then he unzipped his pants and all bets were off.

His "down-to-earth voice and common sense principles will give conservative readers a much-needed sense of hope," says the publicity. Are so-called conservative readers even looking for a down-to-earth voice and common sense principles these days? They seem a lot less hinged than that!

Tom DeLay On Dancing With The Stars?

This is another of the thousands of shows I don't watch.

But like everyone, I somehow hear the names of people who are dancing on it. Not all the names because a lot of celebrities' names I don't recognize. Like soap opera actors, except for "All My Children." Or the various B-listers from reality shows.

I saw one ad for "Dancing With The Stars" today and I distinctly saw that Tom DeLay(!) is going to be a contestant on it.

Tom DeLay? Can he dance? He's a Republican, right? What dance does he do, the Larry Craig Two-Step?

And he's "A Star?" The way I remember his ethics he ought to be starring in whatever stage shows they put on in prison somewhere.

Rachel Maddow

Rachel gave a devastating report tonight on the corporations and Republican fat cat interests behind the supposed "average middle class Americans" protesting the idea of health care reform.

This has to be very funny to the fat cat interests, because they're making millions and stand to make millions more if the rest of us suffer with a crappy health care system. And how funny must it be to them that with a few "patriotic" manipulations of these people, they'll go shout down their congressman or congresswoman over something that would probably do them good, reform.

Even if you're a Republican, an average middle class American, you're suffering the same crappy health care system the rest of us are. The insurance companies aren't going to come around and give you a discount because you torpedoed your own interests. You're being used.

You're going to get old and sick, or have preexisting conditions, or lose your health care because you're out of work, or you suddenly find yourself too poor to pay for it. It's stupid to work against your own interests on behalf of these manipulative fat cats.

Al Franken

Al Franken finally gets to take his place in the U.S. Senate tomorrow. What a great thing. Too bad the Republican mischief-makers were able to chisel six months off his term. But better late than never.

It seems Al is not showing any humor. Which is probably smart. You don't want to provoke people at this point. And the Republican mischief-makers (is there any other kind?) are on the lookout for something to bellyache about. Like always.

I see the tea party/teabaggers were out in (reduced) force on July 4. Where were these people when George W. Bush was running up the deficit? Good question. They didn't decide to object to government mismanagement all those years. Now we have someone trying to put the house back in order and they come around bellyaching about it. It's like someone sets fire to their house, they don't make a peep. Someone shows up to put the fire out, then they complain. Weird bunch.

I saw some of these folks in my town on July 4. And they seemed to have it pretty well disguised what they were pushing. They really did. I bet there wouldn't be 2% of the people where I was that day who had any idea what their name and literature had to do with. Because they weren't protesting anything in particular, just pushing the idea of these "parties." But I knew and let them pass without taking any of their literature.

They're very choosy protestors. Very partisan, you might say. Very selective in what they object to. In other words, as principled as the Republicans usually are. (Not.)

Anyway, welcome to the U.S. Senate, Senator Franken. (I hope O'Reilly has head insurance, because his is about to explode.) LOL. Senator Franken. Suck on that, Bill.

Arlen Specter

Arlen Specter is one sickening guy. He seriously needs to be defeated in 2010.

It'd be an interesting project to come up with trivia on this guy, how many times it sounds like he's on the verge of doing something good, only to veer off and do something sickening. It's definitely a habit.

The Republicans are sickening in general (and specifically). To defeat all of them would be a worthy goal, or to hope they wither on the vine.

Rush To Judgment

Republicans better hurry up and get moderate, or their brand will suffer further damage. Right now they're stuck with this clown Rush Limbaugh and the other fringe crazies. Any Republican moderate out there has to be tearing out his or her hair that this is what it's come to.

Really, they just about break free of Dobson, Falwell (who did them a favor by going to his reward), Robertson, that wing. They get rid of Bush, who was not really a friend to the idea of long term conservatism. And now they're stuck with this idiotic Limbaugh, Coulter, that wing of the party.

Today there's this story, that Eric Cantor and Michael Steele are poo-pooing the insane doctrine that they're pulling for Obama to fail. Of course they're getting strung up for it. Because the crazies they're aligned with are the pitchfork brigade, who won't settle for anything less than their own nutty agenda.

Cantor is no liberal and not a moderate. But maybe he can read the handwriting on the wall. The more the Democrats are able to keep the equation this: Republicans = Limbaugh, the worse things will get. (Or the better they will get from my point of view.)

It's funny watching the Republicans show up to kiss Limbaugh's ring. That's giving him big kicks. Do us a favor. Keep kissing it all the way through 2010.

Be Chastened

I don't want to give any useful advice to the Republicans/conservatives. I want them to slash their own political wrists, throats, whatever, that they might leave us forever. We'd be better off, unless there happened to be a more moderate wing that could take over, those who used good old fashioned American common sense in their political dealings. But just having the radicals in charge, the sooner they off themselves the better.

They're having some big convention. I was seeing some of it on TV. Michael Steele is "da man" in charge (Michelle Bachmann's words). In his overview of the criminality and bad sense of the Bush years, he dismissed it all with a flippant "My bad." Hmm. To me that's not very reflective. May they go down; they certainly won't be missed, except with a smile.

The useful advice I would give, were I to give any, and, remember, I don't want them to take this advice, is to be chastened. Come up with some soul-searching and sincerity. They act like nothing really matters, that government by idiocy can just be overlooked with a stupid "My bad." Personally I wouldn't put these morons in charge of taking out the trash -- because even a task like that is something I want done right. But add to their failure to govern their failure to realize the severity of their failure. If they cannot learn, what would they be promising us for next time? Probably worse.

It makes you wonder how they think. Why wouldn't they want a sense of well being for their own country?

Obama And The Republicans

I hope Obama gets the Republicans by the scruff of the neck pretty soon and shakes them up good. I personally think it's a mistake to bend over backwards for these guys, because they're always right there to slit your throat if you show vulnerability. So if he's doing rope-a-dope, that's one thing, but if he's seriously trusting these hacks, that's another.

As far as the economy goes, it looks to me like the media wants to portray Obama as down for the count. For whatever reason. They seemed overly in love with him, maybe this is just the shadow side of that. They have to dump on him now. But we all have a vested interest in things getting better. And it sickens me that the Republicans, for their short term partisan interest, would root for the country to go down the tubes. People are actually suffering.

Myself, I am fed up to here, now and forever, with the Republicans. There will never be anything they can do or will do that will put them anywhere near my good graces again. Because I think that they, the Congressional types certainly, are up to no good now and forever. They are so ideologically driven that they simply can't do anything right. I think they're selling out the country and it's a terrible shame.

Look at their partisan record. Whatever damage Bush wanted to inflict, they were there to cheer him on. Then he's out of office and we hear they're essentially glad because they supposedly didn't like him very much. Could have fooled me.

I want Obama to succeed -- for his sake (minor point) but for all our sakes (major). It's ridiculous to want things to go sour just so you can swoop in years from now and ... actually cause more damage. That's the Republican agenda.

Stimulus!

Pass the stimulus bill already! That has to be a drag, being in the Senate, with their idiotic rules. I swear, if we had 99 Democrats and just one bedraggled Republican, somehow that lone guy would be able to bring the place to a screeching halt.

How bad does it have to get in this country, though, before the Republicans think we ought to do something about it. If they walked by their own home and saw it on fire, would they call the fire department? Or would they debate it for a couple weeks while it burnt? A couple weeks would only be a conservative estimate.

And these are the same guys who bent over backwards for that scoundrel, George Bush. He was running the Constitution through a shredder and they stood up and saluted. But now, suddenly with a glimpse of possible partisan success by dragging the entire country down, they decide it's time to examine carefully every little nitpicking thing.

I not only hope things get better. Everyone should wish that. But I hope the voters reward the Republicans for their obstructionism in 2010, making the third time the charm.

That Rubbish Called George W. Bush

Isn't it great to finally be rid of our National Joke, George W. Bush? Mr. Poking His Nose in Everyone's Business, Defaming and Trampling on the Constitution At Every Turn Bush?

I feel for President Obama, having still to deal with Human Scum (congressional Republicans), but everyone needs a devil. God made the actual devil, keeps him around. So apparently Republicans are going to be hard to exclude as well.

Yesterday it was reported that Obama had to tell these Wasteoids that he won the election and that things are going to happen with or without them. It's amazing to me that they think they can breeze in, having been crushed, and expect to continue with Bush's perverted policies.

As for the brush-cutting Bush, good for little else, I haven't heard much about him since his worthless speech the night of the Inauguration. And it'll be fine with me if it stays that way. We don't like you, we don't want you, stay gone.

We'll carry on with Obama, reversing some of Bush's ideological craziness and putting the Republicans in their place. Don't let them get you down. If you have to roll over them to govern in a common sense way, let 'em have it.
